August 15th, 2026 - City of Melbourne Presentation on the Rejuvenation of the Royal Park Creek
Presentation about the Royal Park creek, it's "rediscovery and rejuvenation". A big project underwritten in part by a State Government Green Links grant and overseen by Council's Jim Morton who is the main speaker. Lee Harrison also talks about the involvement of the Narrap Rangers.
August 2nd, 2026 - Friends of Royal Park Community Planting
A short video from the Friends of Royal Park, showing the community coming together. 50 participants planted 1000 indigenous Wallaby grass seedlings - enhancing Royal Park's grassy woodland landscape. Thanks to Bupa and Landcare Australia for funding and Serco for site preparation and assistance on the day.

Apart from a general interest in horticultural plant science, revegetation and ecology, Greg has a specific interest in all aspects of arboriculture, which is the scientific study of the cultivation and management of trees. He has contributed to the development of Australian Standards in pruning and amenity tree evaluation and has been a major speaker at conferences in Australia, Israel, Hong Kong, USA and New Zealand in recent years. He was the inaugural president of the International Society of Arboriculture, Australian Chapter. He has been a regular on Melbourne radio, particularly with ABC 774 and 3AW.

March 22nd, 2025 - Royal Park Master Plan - for Better or for Worse?
This informal talk will be presented by: Ron Jones Landscape Architect JONES & WHITEHEAD Pty Ltd Ron, along with Brian Stafford, was one of the authors of the winning entry in the 1984 Royal Park Master Plan Design Competition. Brian and Ron, supported by a team of sub-consultants, authored the 1985 Landscape Development Plan. After Brian’s involvement in the park stopped, and Ron was a member of the City of Melbourne’s urban design team, where he helped to resolve the redesign of the Zoo car parking and main entry area. When the Council’s public consultation process showed strong support for continuing the directions of the 1984 design, Ron worked closely with members of Council’s Parks and Recreation team and consultants from Chris Dance Land Design to prepare the updated 1997 Master Plan. Ron provides some perspective on the original Master Plans and what is missing in the proposed update.

June 22nd, 2024 - Royal Park Protection Group: Grey Headed Flying Foxes - Presented by Tamsyn Hogarth
Tamsyn is the founder of the “Fly By Night Bat Clinic”. It is a DEECA registered wildlife shelter where they rescue, rehabilitate and release Grey Headed Flying Foxes (GHFF) - a threatened species. Tamsyn has been rescuing wildlife since 2007 and rehabilitating GHFF’s since 2012 which led her to be an expert for this species. Tamsyn will be talking about the GHFF’s and the many challenges and obstacles that they face. http://www.flybynight.org.au/
